...in 1001 Days!

My friend Sam, known in internet-land as ~KungfuYew, linked me to this site: [link], which encourages people to make a list of 101 tasks to do in 1001 days. Since focusing is not really my strongpoint, I decided to make my own shiny-awesome 101 list.

I organized it in a few different ways, but this is the one I prefer:

Writing/Books
1. Complete a book.
2. Obtain a typewriter.
3. Write down my dreams.
4. Submit writing to literary magazines and be published.
5. Obtain a small dictionary and keep it with me when I read to look up words.
6. Keep a list of things not to do (or maybe to do) to my future kids inspired by my family.
7. Read some Stephen Hawking.
8. Learn to write in shorthand.
9. Read 20 comic books.
10. Learn Morse code.
11. Learn to read Braille.

Art
12. Sew my own clothes.
13. Illustrate a children's book.
14. Surprise someone with sidewalk chalk drawings.
15. Buy a film camera and develop my own pictures.
16. Randomly make something for someone awesome.
17. Finish Othello comic strip.
18. Go through all my Europe photos and post to my blog or deviantArt.
19. Either finish paper craft Weighted Companion Cube or make one from a cooler material. Then give it to somebody.
20. Do some form of graffiti or street art.
21. Learn to knit.
22. Learn to make chain mail.

Music
23. Compose a song.
24. Learn to play an unusual instrument, other than harmonica or banjo.
25. Learn to play harmonica.
26. Learn to play banjo.
27. Go to a music festival.
28. Participate in a musical performance.

Computers/Internet
29. Learn C++.
30. Build a computer.
31. Be famous on the internet.
32. Submit a design to CSS Zen Garden (learn CSS).
33. Edit Wikipedia.
34. Buy clothing from the internet.
35. Beat Pokémon Red.

Self-Improvement/Life Skills
36. Stop being insecure/love myself.
37. Get a job.
38. Get a driver’s license.
39. Break a bad habit.
40. Stop using the word “like” as a verbal tic.
41. Ask myself at the very least after each semester whether I am happy with my life and then consider making changes. Remember that there is always a way out any situation.

Friends
42. Check up on the following people at least once a month:

43. Visit a friend at another college.
44. Make a secret code with a friend and send notes written in it.
45. Visit Erin.
46. Make friends with a person who works at a business I go to frequently, preferably someone not my own age.
47. Meet Mike (an old internet friend who lives in New Hampshire) in person.
48. Make friends with someone I meet in a public place, like the grocery store.
49. Find the Mediaeval Baebes guy from College for Kids closing.
50. Meet someone in real life who I first met on the internet.

Challenges
51. Eat the same thing every meal for three days and learn how my dog feels.
52. Become a member of the 300 Forms Club. (Do my top three forms 300 times each in two months.)
53. Get a shot without fainting.
54. Participate in class discussions, and not just during the first few classes.
55. Go a week without using the computer. Repeat five times. Not necessarily in a row.
56. Go a month without drinking soda.
57. Be a vegetarian for a week.
58. Catalog all the items in my room.
59. Earn a black belt in tae kwon do.
60. Memorize the lyrics to ‘Subterranean Homesick Blues’ and ‘Mr. Tambourine Man’ by Bob Dylan and ‘It’s the End of the World as We Know It’ by R.E.M.
61. Learn at least half the skills on this list by methods other than the internet.

Experiences
62. Go fishing and put a “gone fishing” sign on my door.
63. Order food at a restaurant with a spurious foreign accent.
64. Read Le Petit Prince in Japanese.
65. Visit Shepard Elementary.
66. Cut someone’s hair.
67. Watch the rest of Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan.
68. Watch all the Star Wars movies.
69. Wear dangly earrings.
70. Go somewhere by train.
71. Play on one of those merry-go-rounds in playgrounds.
72. Drive with a friend to a field in the middle of nowhere and watch the sunset.
73. Go to an anime, comic, or gaming convention.
74. Dye my hair a crazy color.
75. Drop a watermelon from a tall building.
76. Have a snowball fight.
77. Go sledding on one of those giant construction piles of dirt.
78. Try Indian food.
79. Leave the country.

Real Life/Practical
80. Keep up with current events.
81. Register to vote and do so.
82. Learn how to use the gears on my bicycle.
83. Find a Dungeons and Dragons group in St. Louis (and join it).
84. Join the public library in St. Louis.
85. Learn how to cook.
86. Print out this list and hang it on my wall.

Misc. Skills and Knowledge
87. Become proficient in parkour.
88. Research gardening and agriculture and grow some things.
89. Learn basic vocabulary in Italian, Portuguese, and Korean.
90. Learn to identify species of trees.
91. Become proficient with at least one weapon.
92. Learn to play Magic and assemble a deck.

...plus nine more. I left a few spaces open for any brilliant ideas that come along. Any of you fiends have a suggestion?

I think I'm most looking forward to number 75, personally.
